The owner of the company, Shuxian (Susanne) Wassenius, P.E., is a structural engineer with 12 years of relevant experience. She attained her Masters of Engineering from the University of Maryland. She designed and analyzed various new and existing concrete, masonry, wood and steel structures such as high-rise buildings, low-rise buildings, garages, pre-engineered buildings, retaining structures, post-frame structures, and upgrading and retrofitting existing structures. In addition, she is very well conversant with the major building codes including UFC, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, ACI 530, AISC, and NDS.
Susanne Wassenius is not only well versed in structural engineering design but she is also known for her organizational skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, and client rapport. Her professional and personal talents are evident by her project and personal awards. Her notable projects include the 17-story First Mariner Bank Tower in Canton, MD and the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) Campus Center in downtown Baltimore, where she was the Lead Structural Engineer for both projects while employed at Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC (WBCM). These projects won the Mid-Atlantic Construction Merritt Award and the American Council of Civil Engineering Companies (ACEC) Outstanding Project Award, respectively. Susanne Wassenius also won the PWC - DC (Professional Women in Construction - DC Chapter) Rising Star Award. This award recognizes women for career achievement, excellence in job performance, leadership, and exceptional work on a notable project.
